我同学目前已经赶到到湖南老家，相关信息已经在前面的回帖中。
My classmate is on the way back to his hometown in Hunan. All information is in the first post.

I have also reported what I know to the College.
主要是学院也是鞭长莫及，也只能通过网络寻求帮助。
The Dean can do little since it is not within his authority. So we turned to the Internet for help.
有些信息稍有问题也有可能，我同学周六晚上获知消息，周日即坐车去湖南，包括我们班主任、他导师都没来得及告知。
There may be errors in the information I have disclosed. My classmate heard the news on Saturday evening and left for Hunan on Sunday without notifying anybody, not even our class director and his instructor.
我也是看到zjuonline上的他发的帖才联系他。
I contacted him after reading his post on zjuonline.
目前我同学何江峰一人在他老家，作为本科及研究生7年老同学，非常担心他在那边的安危。
Right now my classmate, He Jiangfeng, is alone back at home. As his old pal all the way from college to the graduate school for seven years, I am very concerned about his safety.
发这个帖只是希望何江峰及他的家人能够平安。我们也是普通百姓，帮不上他太多忙。也仅仅是希望通过网络能够引进社会的关注，给他及他的家人一些帮助。
I hope this post finds He Jiangfeng and his family safe. We are ordinary people and cannot help him much. Our only hope is to raise awareness of what has happened there throughout the society, and call for help for him and his family.

正当全国人民众志成城，一致抗灾之时，在我的老家——湖南省新邵县严塘镇的一个小村庄里，却发生了一起令人震惊的打砸抢事件……
As all people of the nation are fighting together against the natural calamity, a shocking incident of vandalism happened in my hometown - a small village in Yantang Town, Xinshao County, Hunan Province.
5.16 六点左右：在严塘镇的坳背村，当地正在进行衡阳到邵阳的高速公路的施工，由于村民阿兵阻挠当地一个施工队把挖下的土方倾泻到村上一条小河（该小河是村民们日常用水除饮用之外的保证），然后施工队就不问青红皂白殴打阿兵，阿兵在寡不敌众的情况下只得逃出，之后当地百姓觉得外地的施工队竟然殴打本地村民，于是集结一些村民前去理论……具体不知为何爆发冲突......据说那个殴打阿兵的人也被几个村民打了
May 16 about 6:00PM - The highway from Hengyang to Shaoyang passing through Youbei Village, Yantang Town, was under construction. Witnessing a construction team dumping soil into a stream, which was the village's only source of water expect for drinking water, a villager, A-Bing, went forward in an attempt to stop them. The construction team without even asking got him beaten up. Overwhelmed, A-Bing escaped. Later, shocked by the fact that local people had got beaten up, the villagers gathered up and went to reason with them. No idea how the later conflict started. Words has it that the guy who had beaten A-Bing got beaten up by the villagers.
5.16七点：天还未完全黑下来，只见村上唯一得公路装来了两卡车人（我父母估计是施工队的民工），我母亲隐隐的觉得事情可能有些不对……当时已有不少村民（包括我父母）拨打县公安局的110等报警电话，但均打不通……
May 16 7:00PM - Not fully dark. Two trucks loaded with people, who my parents guessed were peasant workers from the construction team, drove in from the only road in the village. My parents felt something was wrong. Many villagers including my parents called the county police's emergency call 110, but did not get through.
5.16七点半：夜色渐黑，只见村道上陆续开来了十几辆的士，他们用车把村道堵死，下来的人都是统一着装（目前这伙人还不知来历），手里拿的都是施工时的钢筋，然后可怕的打砸抢开始了……
May 16 7:30PM - Getting darker. More than ten cabs drove in one by one from the road and had it blocked. Men coming out, their identity still unknown, wore the same uniform and carried with them iron rods which can only be found on construction sites. Then the vandalism started.
这伙暴徒（按照我母亲的说法简直是当年日本鬼子进村)挨家挨户打砸过来，不论是否参与下午的那件事情，看到人只要不着他们的统一服装就用钢筋打，没看到人就冲进村民家中，对玻璃、柜子等实施打砸……
These mobsters, who according to my mum were like Japanese soldiers back in WWII, vandalized the village door by door. Whether one had been involved in the conflict earlier was irrelevant. Everyone who did not wear the uniform got beaten up. If the house was empty, they would break in and trash the glasses, cabinets and everything.
5.16十点左右：我父亲打来电话，说让我网络上搜索一下公安部的报警电话，当时与父亲简单交流几句后就赶忙拨打114查号，并且拨通了湖南省公安厅的总机号码，从那里我又了解到了邵阳市公安局的报警电话……
May 16 10:00PM - Dad called and asked me to search on the Internet for the emergency call of the Ministry of Public Security. After exchanging a few words with him, I immediately called 114, dialed through to the Department of Public Security, Hunan Province, and found out from there Shaoyang police's emergency call.
5.16十点三十分：我接到我母亲的电话，只听到哭泣声，说我父亲被打得动弹不得，我赶紧要我母亲求助在县城的舅舅，请他叫120来急救……
May 16 10:30PM - I got a call from Mum and heard her cry. She told me that Dad had been beaten hard and could not move no more. I immediately asked Mum to call my uncle who lived in the county and ask him to call 120 for help.
正值家中祖母病逝刚刚下葬，亲人基本都在家里，由于我家靠近山边，于是没等到暴徒们赶来，大部分家人都先躲到山上，但是当暴徒们发现我父亲的时候，居然一直追到山上，对他进行殴打，致使父亲头部、腰部、手脚多处打伤，目前还在医院重症监护室，没有完全脱离生命危险……
My grandma had passed away days before and my family was holding a funeral for her so almost all members of the family were at home. Our house was at the foot of a mountain. Before the mobsters arrived, most of my families had escaped into the mountain. But they found my dad and chased him into the mountain and beat him hard, causing injuries in his head, waist, hands and feet. He is in the ICU right now and is still not out of danger.
5.16十一点半：由于村路完全被车堵塞，又由于歹徒还在继续在村上行凶，我舅舅叫来120急救车绕行到一条小路，然后抬担架翻山把在山上的父亲抬到了急救车上……
May 16 11:30PM - Because the road in the village had been blocked and the mobsters were still there, the ambulance my uncle called for went around to a small path and managed to get my dad out of the mountain.
5.17凌晨一点：母亲在电话中描述了以上的一切，她说目前共有6～7名重伤的村民被陆续送到医院，而轻伤的村民则逃的逃，躲的躲……
May 17 01:00AM - Mum told me everything. She said six to seven villagers severely injured had been sent to the hospital. Others had either escaped or hidden in safe places.
在这个全国一致抗灾的时刻，居然发生这么骇人听闻的打砸抢事件，我很明白这绝对是一个不和谐的音符，但是我觉得事件真相一定要公布，也希望能让更高级别的政府官员知道此事，绝对不能让这伙暴徒逍遥法外！！！
At the moment when all the nation is fighting against the natural calamity, such a shocking incident of vandalism as this is has happened! I understand completely it is not harmonious. But I feel the truth has to be told. And I wish that high ranking officials could know about this. These mobsters shall not be allowed to escape from justice.
为我的父亲以及所有在此次事件中受伤的村民们祈祷，希望他们都能平平安安！
I pray for my dad and all villagers injured and hope they will be well.
注：以上均根据我母亲的口述整理，我也将马上登上回乡的汽车看望还在重症监护的父亲……就在刚才，我和母亲的通话中她还听说那伙暴徒还不想罢休，要到医院来打人……
Note: Above is based on my mum's narration. I will be on my way back home to see my dad in the ICU soon. Just now, Mum called and told me that the mobsters would not want to stop and plan to go to the hospital to beat people.

We had a talk on the phone this afternoon. He sent me some information this evening.
事情很复杂，当地的县公安局表面上已经介入，但行凶方相当有势力。
一些细节问题仍在进一步核实。
It is complicated. The county police has started the investigation, but the criminals have big guys behind them. Some details are being checked.
他爸病情虽然稳定，但仍在ICU观察。
His father is stable, but still in the ICU.
